(This is the fifth song of seven in the Job Suite)
When God spoke to Job, it was "out of the storm", a tempest of whirling winds. We don't know whether God projected through the din of this, or if the squall got Job's attention and then God spoke in the aftermath. In the latter case, it might have been at a conversational level or in a whisper (as Elijah experienced after similar on-demand events: earthquake, wind, and fire). I mixed up a violent windstorm as the introduction for the album version and envisioned it this way, coming suddenly, dissipating right about the time Job thought it could be his end, and then God lovingly and poetically confronting the man.
Young Elihu's speech (Part iv. in the Suite) broke Job and his companions out of exhausting cycles of dialogue and questions, and set Job up for God's speech, a "reply" to Job's questions but entirely on God's terms, bringing His own set of rhetorical questions.
I intentionally kept this song as solo acoustic guitar with a single vocal, but as 2025 came to a close, after I had recorded the acoustic part, I began hearing and composing an electric guitar lead that now belongs to the song, voiced only over the instrumental section.
